New Year, Same Goals?

Same goals, better systems, real progress.

Refinement over Reinvention

The goals that keep showing up year after year? Those are your real priorities.

If you've opened Instagram lately, you've probably seen it: the "New Year, New You!" content everywhere. The detox plans. The complete life overhauls. The vision boards.

And maybe you felt… behind? Because your goals for 2026 look suspiciously similar to your goals from 2025?

Here's what I want you to know: That's not only okay - it might actually be the smartest approach.

I'm going into this new year with almost identical goals to last year. I'm still working on consistency with content creation. I'm still trying to be more present with my family while growing The Bubble Lounge. I'm still committed to showcasing our incredible Highland Park and University Park community.

Same goals. Still important. Still worth pursuing.

Why "Same Goals" Isn't Settling

Here's the thing about meaningful goals: they're usually not one-year projects. Building a business, raising great humans, maintaining your health, creating a home you love - these aren't checkbox items. They're ongoing commitments that deserve sustained attention, not just 365-day sprints.

The pressure to completely reinvent ourselves every January implies that we failed last year. What if we didn't fail? What if we made progress, learned what works, and now we're doubling down on what matters?

I've interviewed enough successful entrepreneurs on the podcast to know this: The people who actually achieve their big goals aren't the ones constantly chasing shiny new objectives. They're the ones who show up consistently for the same priorities, year after year, refining their approach and building momentum.

Refinement Over Reinvention

This year, instead of scrapping everything and starting from scratch, I'm asking myself better questions:

  • What made progress last year? (Do more of that)

  • What got in the way? (Remove or minimize that)

  • What tools or systems would make this easier? (Invest there)

That third question is huge for me. I don't need new goals - I need better systems to support the goals I already have.

For example, one of my ongoing goals is getting more organized with content planning for The Bubble Lounge. Instead of just wishing I were more organized, I'm actually investing in organizational products and workflow systems that fit into my work-life balance approach.

The Power of "I’m still at it” Mentality

I've started reframing my self-talk around the word "still."

Not: "I'm still trying to be consistent with Instagram."
Instead: "I'm still committed to showing up for this community."

Not: "I'm still working on being more organized."
Instead: "I'm still investing in systems that support my goals."

See the difference? One version sounds like failure. The other sounds like commitment.

Permission to Stay the Course

If your 2026 goals look a lot like your 2025 goals, I want you to hear this: You're not behind. You're not failing. You're committed.

The goals that keep showing up year after year? Those are your real priorities. They deserve your continued attention, your refinement, your investment in better systems.

So here's to 2026: New year, same goals, better execution.
