October brought some of my favorite conversations to the podcast. From Highland Park traditions to the messy reality of parenting college students, breast cancer survival, teen friendship drama, and Dallas food festivals, this month had it all. Here's what you missed.

Episode 38: The Scotsmen Tradition – Spirit, Service, and School Pride (October 2)

We kicked off October by sitting down with five Scotsmen to talk about what it really means to be part of this Highland Park tradition. Everyone knows them from game day, but there's so much more happening behind the scenes. These guys shared stories about the selection process, endless practice hours, community service commitments, and what it's like being role models for younger students. If you've ever wondered what it takes to be a Scotsman, this one's for you.

Episode 39: College Parents Weekend – What Really Happens with Lisa Bedford & Sylvia Scott (October 9)

Parents Weekend is exhausting and emotional and sometimes hilarious. I talked with Lisa Bedford and Sylvia Scott about their completely different approaches to visiting their college kids. We got into setting realistic expectations, what not to do (seriously, don't), and how to enjoy yourself without needing three days to recover. Whether you're planning your first trip or still processing the last one, we covered it all.

Episode 40: Surviving Breast Cancer with Cathy Williamson (October 16)

Cathy Williamson's story stopped me in my tracks. A routine check-up revealed triple-negative breast cancer when she had zero symptoms. She walked us through the shock of diagnosis, the reality of treatment, and the faith that got her through it. This conversation reminded me what real strength looks like. Episode 41: Navigating Teen Friend Groups with Dr. Kelly Jameson (October 23)

Homecoming season means friend drama is at peak levels. Dr. Kelly Jameson came back to help us understand what's actually happening with teen friendships right now. She broke down group chat hierarchies, Snap Map anxiety, and why some kids feel left out. More importantly, she gave us tools to help our teens through it without making things worse. If you've got a teenager dealing with friendship issues, listen to this one. www.drkellyjameson.com

Episode 43: The Woman Behind Dallas' Tastiest Weekend – Iris Midler of Chefs for Farmers (October 30)

We celebrated seven years of the podcast with Iris Midler, who started Chefs for Farmers and turned it into one of Dallas's biggest food events. She talked about juggling motherhood, a family emergency, and the festival all in one week. From connecting local chefs and farmers to creating something the whole city looks forward to, Iris's story is one you need to hear.
